At 33 years of age Laura has more adventures under her belt then most have in a lifetime. Being home schooled allowed her the time and freedom needed to pursue her passion for the sport of dog sledding. As time demanding as mushing is, she skillfully balanced the hours spent with the dogs and the hours spent in the books. This allowed her to successfully graduate with a 4.0 g.p.a. From the age of thirteen Laura has also worked for the family business of construction, home maintenance and remodeling in order to support her love of dog sledding. Working side-by-side with her father in the off- season has become especially important to Laura as the " hobby" turned into a profession requiring her to leave Washington at the end of each summer. She packs "life" up in her truck and trailer , heading to Montana to set up "base camp" for training and racing.
