Drive Thru Checkpoints - March 7,2008

 

    Not much to report tonight. Laura is on the fly. She left McGrath this morning at 3:30am(4:30am pacific time) and ran one of the fastest legs to Takotna of all the teams. Hurray!! She only spent 16 min. there and then headed on to Ophir. She arrived in Ophir at 8:47am(9:47am pacific time), stopping for 18 min and then taking off for Cripple. The trail to Cripple is 59 miles and seems to be pretty uneventful. It is a long stretch so she will probably camp along the way. At Ophir she was 444 miles into the race with only 668 miles to go. I'm posting a photo gallery on the Iditarod update page. A photographer, Kim Bertrand, from Washington has been following Laura's training season and was at the start of the race.
